In this paper we discuss in detail how parameterized Arabic letters are metadesigned using METAFONT and then used in forming words. Parameterized Arabic fonts enable greater flexibility in joining glyphs together, rendering words with imperceptible junctions and smoother letter extensions. This work aims at producing written Arabic with quality close to that of calligraphers. Words produced using our parameterized font are compared to other widely used fonts in a subjective test and results are presented.
